The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) was created about 3 months back and will be open to certain businesses starting on the 8th of April. This grant is for businesses (including non-profits) such as theaters, zoos, movie theaters, museums, etc. that were hit hard during the Covid-19 pandemic. The focus of this grant will be primarily to businesses that have fewer than 50 employees, so for about the first 2 months, the application will be reserved to these companies. For the first 2 weeks, the application will be reserved to businesses that lost at least 90% of their revenue from April through December of 2020. Part of the process to be able to apply for this grant is to register for a DUNS number (you can do that here: https://fedgov.dnb.com/webform/) and to also register with the System for Award Management (which can be done here: https://www.sam.gov/SAM/). The application with the SAM can take a while (about 2 weeks), so make sure to do that soon if you are wanting to apply for this grant. There is other information that you will want to have available (such as income statements, employee counts, & tax returns). If you already received the PPP Loan, you are still eligible to apply for this grant. However, if you do receive the SVOG grant first, your PPP Loan amount will be reduced by the exact amount you received from the SVOG. There is a limited amount of funding for this grant, so it is imperative that you contact your accountant as soon as possible to make sure you have all required documents ready to go. To be notified as soon as the application opens, the Small Business Association has opened a portal for businesses to be alerted. This portal can be found here: https://www.svograntportal.sba.gov/s/
